FAQ

  • I am comfortable working with most if not all genres, my main working genres are as follows: Techno, Industrial, EDM, EBM, Trap, Rap, House, Pop, Metal, Punk, Noise.

I mainly work in electronic genres, but am more than capable of working on other styles of music. If you’re unsure if your music will be interpreted correctly, feel free to send reference tracks.

  • Please submit files as 24b/32b WAV, ideally in the sample rate of your project and recordings. Files can also be submitted in AIFF format.

  • Digital

As standard, if a specific requirement is not specified, masters will be delivered in:

    • 24b (up to 192kHz) WAV for distribution, streaming

    • 16b 44.1kHz WAV for distribution, streaming, and CD production

    • 320Kbps mp3 for referencing and sharing

    Vinyl

Vinyl pre-masters will be delivered as 24b WAV’s with a single file for each side, including a cue sheet for the cutting engineer.

    CD

It is recommended, if you intend for your tracks to be printed to CD format, that you request DDP (Disc Description Protocol) as an extra with your masters. This format will protect against corruption of audio files during CD duplication. Software can be recommended for you to view the DDP, burn your own copies, and export WAV’s.

  • Absolutely! Reference tracks can save both of us time if you have a specific sonic/tonal/loudness goal. If you have a reference track please send it along with your files via a link or download.

  • Please leave your sample rate the same as your recording and mixing project, avoid down-sampling or up-sampling if possible.

  • New clients are able to request a sample master, these will be delivered as full quality 24b WAV files with the start and end cut off so they are not able to be used commercially.

  • Unlimited revisions are provided to ensure you’re satisfied with your masters. However, submitting new mixes will be subject to a small fee depending on the severity of mix change.

  • No, please leave all limiting and clipping off the master buss. You are able to submit a loud reference if desired but please provide alongside a version with no limiting. Please ensure the master buss does not peak above 0dB at any point.

If the waveform looks squared off, regardless of it’s size, you likely have a limiter or clipper plugin on the master bus, please remove this.

  • Yes, though only if needed.

    • Stem mastering is typically only advised if there are issues in the mix which cannot be corrected in the master, and is unable to be fixed by the mixing engineer for whatever reason.

    • Stem mastering is often unideal and should only be used if necessary, since any mix buss processing applied will have to be removed, and likely the sum of the stems will be slightly different than the original final mix, in the case of processing and returns/sends.

    • I may request a separate stem when absolutely necessary to fix a crucial issue, such as the vocals separately and a version of the mix with no vocals, trying to keep the stem usage minimal and maintain the intention, tone, and balance of the original mix.

  • yes! I work closely with my clients to ensure we can bring the best out of every track. You are free to send any in-progress mixes for my thoughts. When submitting premasters, if there is a crucial issue that needs to be fixed in mixing, you will be given feedback. If you still desire feedback otherwise then please make sure to request.

  • Yes! Please let me know if you desire metadata insertion on your files, and provide all necessary information. As standard if not requested, files will be sent with no metadata.

  • Invoices are sent via Quickbooks and can be paid via PayPal or Debit/Credit card.

  • In general, masters will be completed and sent within 5-7 days. If you need your masters quickly please contact me with deadlines.

Depending on workload, singles will be delivered within 48h.

  • It is important you name your files correctly before sending your premasters, this helps ensure that delivery is smooth and there is no confusion when referring to specific tracks. It is also beneficial for archiving purposes and mix versions.

Ideally name your files with the convention ‘Track Number - Artist - Song Name_ Mix Version _ BitDepth _ SampleRate

    For Example: T3 - ArtDecade - My Song _ V1 _ 24b _ 44.1

  • Credit is always appreciated, my desired credit is “Mastered by Stefan at ArtDecade Mastering”.

  • Sequencing can at times be an important part of mastering, as the sequence affects the flow. If you desire help with sequencing please request my opinion. In some cases regarding vinyl releases, the sequencing may have to be changed to allow the sides to fit in a way that will benefit the sound quality.

  • I can offer digital attendance over Zoom and AudioMovers
